Customize the WebChat
What you will have: Your public chat page has your colors, a welcome message and useful shortcuts, and you have its link to share.
Visitors write to you from a simple link, with no app to install, and their messages arrive in the same Inbox as WhatsApp.
Before you start
Why it matters
Not all your customers will write to you on WhatsApp: some discover you on Facebook, on your website or on a poster. The WebChat gives them a chat page in your name, opened with one click, with no app to install. Their messages arrive in your Inbox, next to the WhatsApp conversations, and this channel uses no messaging credits.
Summary
Your WebChat exists as soon as your account is created, at the address chat.genuka.com/ followed by your company's handle. Its settings are in the Inbox, Inbox Settings icon, WebChat tab: the link to share, the Welcome message, the Shortcuts and the Webchat appearance. A Preview next to the settings shows the result as you go.
Prerequisites
- Permission
inbox.*to open Inbox Settings and save the settings. - For the Opening hours and Links shortcuts: your opening hours and links filled in under Settings › Company › Company Info, Hours & links tab.
Steps
- Open Menu › Communication › Inbox, then the Inbox Settings icon, WebChat tab.
- Your webchat link: Copy to share it (social networks, bio, website, business cards), Open to see it as a visitor.
- Welcome message: the text shown to the visitor as soon as the chat opens, before any message (500 characters at most). If left empty, the preview shows the default message "Hi 👋 How can I help you?".
- Shortcuts: the small buttons shown above the input box.
- Four shortcuts are provided: Catalog, Opening hours, Store details and Links. You can rename them, hide them and change their order (Move up, Move down), but not delete them.
- Add a link creates a button that opens an external address.
- Add a quick reply creates a button that sends a pre-filled message ("I want to order", "Where are you located?"...).
- Webchat appearance:
- Colors: Primary, Text on primary, Accent;
- Background: Solid, Gradient or Image;
- Shape & font: Corner radius and Font (choose from several, or import a custom font);
- Advanced options: color of the Cards, of the Text, and Dark mode (Auto, Light, Dark).
- Click Save settings. The message "Settings saved" confirms it. Visitors see the new version the next time they open the chat.

| Opening hours shortcut | Opens the opening hours. |

Edge cases and common mistakes
- "Set your store handle to get a webchat link." Your company has no public handle. It is normally created with the account from its name; contact support if it is missing.
- Contrast warning. "Low contrast between primary and text-on-primary": the button text may be hard to read. Choose a lighter or darker text color.
- The Opening hours or Links shortcuts are empty. Fill them in under Settings › Company › Company Info, Hours & links tab.
- I can see the settings but I can't save. Saving requires the
inbox.*permission. - The colors don't change in Genuka. This is normal: they only apply to the public chat page.
