Genuka on phone and computer (desktop app)

Why it matters

The owner wants their figures wherever they are; the cashier cannot stop selling because the connection dropped. Genuka works in the phone's browser, installs like an app on the home screen, and exists as a desktop app with a register that works offline.

Summary

• On a phone: Genuka opens in the browser, with a layout adapted to the screen (menu at the bottom). You can add it to the home screen to open it like an app. There is no Genuka app to download from the Play Store or the App Store.
• On a computer: the Genuka app for Windows, macOS and Linux is downloaded from the Genuka for desktop page (/desktop) on the Genuka website. Its register records sales offline and syncs them when the internet returns.
• On WhatsApp: the Genuka assistant answers your questions and acts in your account (see "Your AI assistant").

Before you start

• A Genuka account and an internet connection for the first sign-in.

On a phone

1. Open Genuka in your phone's browser and sign in.
2. Android (Chrome): Genuka may offer to install itself, with the "Install Genuka" button. Otherwise, open the browser menu and choose to install the app or add it to the home screen.
3. iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.

The Genuka icon then opens the dashboard full screen. On a phone, the menu becomes a bar at the bottom of the screen: your favorites appear there, and More opens Settings. Search is behind the magnifier, at the top.

On a computer: the desktop app

1. Open the Genuka for desktop page on the Genuka website (/desktop).
2. The main Download for... button offers the file for your system. The others are under All platforms:
   • Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit): installer file, or Download the .msi package;
   • macOS 10.15 or later (Intel and Apple Silicon);
   • Linux: AppImage (64-bit), or Download the .deb package.
3. Install, then sign in: sign-in opens in your browser, as on the dashboard.
4. On first launch, the computer may warn that the app comes from an unidentified developer. On Windows, choose More info then Run anyway; on macOS, right-click the app then Open.

Updates are then automatic.

What works offline

An Online / Offline indicator at the top of the app tells you where you stand.

Edge cases and common mistakes

• "I'm looking for Genuka on the Play Store." There is no store app: install Genuka from the phone's browser, as described above.
• The install prompt shows in English ("Install Genuka"). This is expected. If you dismissed it, it does not come back right away: use the browser menu instead.
• A sale made offline does not appear in orders yet. It is on the computer and will go out when you reconnect. Keep the app open once the internet is back.
• No desktop app for phone or tablet. The /desktop page only offers Windows, macOS and Linux.

FAQ

Does Genuka work without internet? Only the register of the desktop app. The dashboard, on a phone or in the browser, needs internet.

Is the data the same everywhere? Yes: phone, browser and desktop app work on the same account. Offline sales join the account when they sync.

Do I need to reinstall for each new version? Not for the desktop app, which updates itself. On a phone, Genuka updates each time you open it.
