Why it matters
Building a website is expensive and slow, and then you have to keep it up to date. With the Website Builder, you describe your brand, an AI agent proposes a visual direction, then builds the site. It sells the products, prices and stock you already manage in Genuka. You then change it by chatting with the agent, without touching any code.
Summary
The Website Builder (Settings › Website › Website Builder) works in four steps: a 3-step form, a creative brief to approve, the site generation, then a workspace where you ask for changes and publish. It is not a drag-and-drop editor: everything goes through the conversation with the agent. The brief, the generation and each message use AI tokens.
Requirements
- The
website.*permission (manage the website). - Enough AI tokens. The cost of the generation and your balance are shown before you approve.
- Ideally, your products already created in Genuka: the site displays them as they are.
Steps
1. Describe your brand (3 steps)
Open Settings › Website › Website Builder. The fields are already filled with what Genuka knows about your business: check them.
- Your brand: Brand name, Tagline or short description, Business sector (guessed from what you sell) and Site language(s).
- Your visual world: upload your posters, flyers, shop photos or social media screenshots (Your brand assets, 12 at most). The agent reads them and shows you what it takes from them. Pick up to 3 moods (The vibe of your brand: Elegant, Warm, Minimalist…), your colors if you have any (Already have your colors?), your social media links and sites you like.
- Your site: What is your site for? (Sell online, Showcase + WhatsApp orders or Bookings), Pages you want (About, Contact, FAQ, Blog, Gallery, Services, Testimonials) and a free field Anything else we should know?. The home page, catalog and cart are always included.
Click Create my site. You can also click Generate right away from the first step: the rest is optional, but the more you give, the more the site will look like you.
2. Approve the creative brief
The agent writes a brief: color palette, font for titles and text, and the way the site will speak. Nothing is generated yet.
- Click a color or a font to change it, then Save my changes.
- Or click Adjust and write what to change ("Keep the palette but simplify the typography…"). The number of adjustments is limited: the screen shows how many you have left.
- The bottom of the brief shows the cost of the generation and your balance. Click Validate and generate my site. If your balance does not cover the generation, the button is greyed out: click Top up my tokens.
3. Let the agent build the site
The generation takes a few minutes. The screen reports progress (design system, pages, checks). You can leave the page: the generation keeps going.
4. Change the site by chatting with the agent
Once the site is ready, the workspace opens.
- Write your request in Ask for a change… ("Change the big home page image", "Add an about section"). The approximate cost of a message appears under the input box.
- Use Attach a product to point to a specific product or collection, or drop in a photo or video. Uploaded files join your media library.
- The agent changes the design and texts of the site, then shows Before / after screenshots (desktop and mobile). For your products, prices or stock, it sends you to the right Genuka page: that is your data, not the site's code.
5. Publish
Your changes pile up on a draft. The Publication card shows how many changes are not yet published.
- Click Publish. Genuka checks that the site builds and can be browsed before putting it online. This takes a few minutes, and you can close the page.
- See my site opens the live version.
- To give your site an address, click Set a domain name in Site address (see the lesson on domains).
Fields & options
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Published versions | History of publications. Restore puts the site back in the state of a version; later publications stay in the history. |
| My site's files | The site's code, for advanced users. A saved change goes to the draft and goes live at the next publication. The editor is locked while the agent is working. |
| Start over | Same brief, new attempt rebuilds the site from the approved brief (cost shown). Change direction takes you back to the brief to rework it; nothing is charged until you approve. In both cases, the conversation with the agent is erased and your visitors see the old site until your next publication. |
Edge cases & common mistakes
- The publication is refused. If the checks fail, the live site is not touched. The card offers Ask the assistant to fix it or Go back to the version online, which drops the unpublished changes.
- The generation stops. Your brief and answers are kept. Click Relaunch the generation. Only the tokens actually used are charged.
- "Not enough tokens" when approving the brief or sending a message: top up your AI tokens, then try again.
- The site is generated but not online. After the generation, the site is not published yet: click Publish.
- The Website Builder and the online store theme are two different sites. The Theme menu sets up the classic online store; it changes nothing on the site created by the agent.
FAQ
Do I need to know how to code? No. You describe what you want in the chat. Access to the files exists for those who want it, but it is optional.
Will my new products show up on the site? Yes. The site reads your Genuka catalog: a product created or a price changed in Genuka appears on the site without republishing, sometimes after a short delay.
How much does it cost? The brief, the generation and each message use AI tokens. The cost of the generation and your balance are shown before you approve; the approximate cost of a message is shown under the input box.
Can I go back after a publication? Yes: in Published versions, click Restore on the version you want.
