Why it matters

An address like myshop.genuka.shop or www.mybrand.com is easy to remember and to share on WhatsApp, on a poster or a business card. Genuka gives you a free address in a few seconds, or connects the domain you have already bought.

Summary

The Domains page (Settings › Website › Domains) has two sections, because you can have two sites:

  • My AI website: the site created with the Website Builder. You add a free genuka.shop subdomain or your own domain to it, which Genuka checks for you.
  • My online store: the classic online store (set up by the theme). You add a domain linked to a shop to it.

The My AI website section only appears once your site has been generated.

Requirements

  • The domains.* permission (manage domains).
  • For the AI site: a site published at least once. Otherwise, adding a domain is refused.
  • For your own domain: a domain bought from a registrar (domain name provider) and access to its DNS settings.

Steps

AI site: a free subdomain

  1. Open Settings › Website › Domains, My AI website section. You can also use Set a domain name in the Website Builder workspace.
  2. Choose Free genuka.shop subdomain.
  3. Enter the Subdomain you want (my-shop), or leave it empty to use your company name.
  4. Click Add. The domain goes to Verifying, then Active, usually within moments. No DNS setup is needed.

AI site: your own domain

  1. In the same section, choose My own domain.
  2. Enter the Domain name (shop.mybrand.com or mybrand.com), then Add.
  3. Genuka shows the DNS record to add. Click Copy:
    • for a root domain (mybrand.com), an A record on @;
    • for a subdomain (shop.mybrand.com), a CNAME record.
  4. At your registrar, add this record in the domain's DNS settings.
  5. Come back to Genuka and click Verify. Genuka also checks on its own, about every minute for one hour. When the domain is Active, your site answers there.

Online store: add a domain

  1. At your registrar, first point the domain to Genuka: an A record to the IP address shown under the Domain name field.
  2. In the My online store section, click Add a domain.
  3. Enter the Domain name, choose the Associated Shop, then Save.
  4. To make it the main address, click Set as main.

Fields & options

Status (AI site)Meaning
ActiveThe domain is verified: your site answers there.
VerifyingGenuka is checking the domain. Wait a few moments.
Pending DNSThe DNS record is not seen yet. Add it or wait for it to propagate.
FailedThe verification gave up or failed; the reason is shown under the domain. Fix the DNS, then Verify.

The Primary badge marks the company's main address. The first domain added, when there is none yet, becomes primary automatically. On the AI site, there is no button to change the primary domain.

Edge cases & common mistakes

  • "Not verified yet — DNS can take a few minutes to propagate." This is normal right after adding the record. Try again later; depending on the registrar, it can take several hours.
  • The domain goes to Failed after an hour. The automatic verification stops after about an hour. Fix the record at your registrar, then click Verify to start again.
  • "This domain is already registered." (message shown in English). A domain can only be connected once in Genuka. Remove it first from where it is already used.
  • "The site is not deployed yet. Publish it before attaching a domain." (in English). Your AI site has never been published: click Publish in the Website Builder, then try again.
  • Online store: the domain is refused. If the A record does not point to the indicated IP address yet, Genuka refuses the addition (message in English: the domain does not point to our server). Add the record, wait for it to propagate, then try again.
  • You cannot delete it. In the online store section, the trash icon is greyed out for the primary domain and for your only genuka.shop subdomain.
  • "Your website is online" shows while the site does not answer. This banner only means that at least one domain exists; it does not check that the site answers. Look at the status of each domain.

FAQ

Is the genuka.shop subdomain paid? No, it is free and needs no DNS setup.

Where do I buy a domain name? From any registrar. Genuka does not sell domains: it connects the one you own.

Can I remove a domain? Yes. On the AI site, click the delete icon next to the domain, then Remove: it will no longer point to your site. For the online store, use the trash icon.
